Rods are solid PMMA or polycarbonate cylinders. Their optical properties allow them to transmit light. Therefore, they are treated as optical fibers. |

Standard diameters go from 6mm to 70mm.
Because transmission of the light in a rod is not perfect, lengths greater than 1 meter are avoided.
We can double this length if the rod has a source at each end.

A rod's power is usually given by LEDs (1W to 3W, monochrome or RGB).
By using a high diameter rod (greater than 40mm), we create a product whose light source is very small compared to the rod.
